A trip to India inspired Laurence Everard to create the Mais il est ou le soleil brand and the label was founded in January 1998. She wanted to create a product and wanted it to be manufactured in India, especially Rajasthan, where embroidery and pattern techniques are still employed that are no longer used in Europe. Laurence brought on board fashion designer Val Pollet who mixes clean, creative cuts with frivolous layers, lacing,pleating and fine web embroidery. Clients are defined by their attitude rather than their relationship to a fashion or a generation.
